On this day, Hip-hop replays The Game, literally, as the iconic West Coast emcee celebrates the date of his birth.

The Game first took to Hip-hop underground in the early 2000's. In an age wherein fans perceived Hip-hop dominance began tipping more towards the East, Game became a driving force bringing West Coast rap back onto the mainstream, as others rallied alongside in competition with counterparts in the East.

Rhymefest to turn Kanye's childhood home into community arts center

Academy Award winning Chicago rapper and songwriter Rhymefest has bought the home that Kanye West grew up in, and has announced plans to turn the home into a "community arts incubator" and permanent home for the Donda's House charity foundation.

In a statement published on his Instagram, Rhymefest announced plans to turn the house into a community center that will allow inner city youth to grow and hone their creative skills. "It will be the first of our Nationwide Lite-Houses. Yasiin Bey's final album to be TIDAL exclusive

Yasiin Bey, a.k.a. Mos Def, will retire from producing new music before the end of the year. The hip hop legend will give his fans one last studio album before retiring, though you'll need a TIDAL subscription if you want to hear Bey's swan song.

Bey will be teaming up with relatively new producer Ferrari Shepard for his final album. The duo will be known as December 99th, and the self-titled album will be released for streaming exclusively on the TIDAL service on December 9th.

Chance, Fat Joe, Beyonce take home Soul Train awards

 

The 28th annual Soul Train Awards were broadcasted last night, and many hip hop's biggest artists, including Chance the Rapper and Fat Joe, took home several prestigious awards.

 

Chance the Rapper took home the "Best New Artist" award, while Fat Joe and Remy Ma took home the awards for "Rhythm and Bars" (formerly known as the "Best Hip Hop Song" award,) and "Best Collaboration" for their hit song, "All The Way Up."
