On this day, veteran Hip-hop group Jungle Brothers released their memorable debut collective, Straight Out The Jungle.

Gaining prominence to feature the first non-Chicago Hip-house record to attain massive commercial, the album featured numerous iconic artists, such as De La Soul, A Tribe Called Quest, and Black Sheep to name a few. This day in Hip-hop recognizes the birth of Louis Eric Barrier, better known for his stage name Eric B, DJ, producer, and rapper.

Gaining prominence in the scene as one half of the dynamic duo, Eric B & Rakim, Barrier's career into music began as a DJ for WBLS based in New York. Upon searching for a rapper to team up with, Barrier met Rakim, and the Hip-hop tandem was formed in 1986.

Under the guidance of Marley Marl, the two released their debut album, Paid In Full, that following year, and audiences witnessed yet another pair born out of destiny. Public Enemy's Chuck D -- a.k.a. Mistachuck -- is back, and he's teamed up with The Impossebulls to deliver with a politically charged, rage filled track that puts America's broken political system in its crosshairs.

Childish Gambino's next album will be "Awaken My Love"

Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover just wrapped up the first season of the critically acclaimed TV series Atlanta, and according to some leaked information, the actor/rapper/comedian may be following up his recent acting successes with a brand new album, entitled "Awaken My Love."

Retailers Amazon and FYE may have accidentally announced Gambino's next album today. Amazon accidentally listed the album on their site earlier today, but have since removed the listing. FYE also listed the album as an upcoming release, with a release date of December 2nd.

Rap pioneer Kurtis Blow recovering after near fatal heart attack

Kurtis Blow, the golden age rapper who gave hip hop its first RIAA gold album, suffered a severe heart attack last Friday. Thankfully, Blow's life was saved thanks to the quick response of police and EMT, and now the pioneering musician wants everyone to know how thankful he is.

"I died and these officers saved my life," Blow told NBC News. "The police saved my life, a black man. In this day and age, people need to hear that."

Blow reportedly collapsed near a bus stop following a verbal argument with another man on Friday. Two LAPD police officers, who had just arrived on scene to settle the argument, immediately began performing CPR on Blow moments later, reportedly saving his life.

Tupac Shakur, PAC, Makavelli—names all synonymous to a music legend. This day in Hip-hop acknowledges the anniversary of his fifth album, The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory.

The “Seven days” alludes to the time span behind the albums recording: three days for writing and recording, and four days apart for mixing—the week also signified Tupac's last moments in studios and recording sessions, as the West Coast legend tragically passed one month later.
