Santigold Takes Her "Spirituals" To NPR's Tiny Desk Concert Series

Santigold appeared on NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series this week, performing “L.E.S. Artistes,” “I’m A Lady,” “Shake,” “Fall First" and “Ain’t Got Enough.” Backed by longtime Stiffed collaborator Chuck Treece on drums, Twin Shadow on bass and two background vocalists, Santi sailed through her performance with the professionalism of the seasoned musician she is, while putting her punk rock ethos front and center.

It marked one of the first live performances from the genre-bending chanteuse since she canceled her Holified Tour in September due to “devastating” costs due to inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic.

“All of that on top of the already-tapped mental, spiritual, physical, and emotional resources of just having made it through the past few

Questlove Asks For Hip Hop's Help With Sinbad's Recovery After Comedian Suffers Serious Stroke

Questlove shared a sobering photo of Sinbad to his Instagram account on Monday (November 21), bringing the comedian's very serious health struggles into the spotlight. As the photo started to gain traction—Royce Da 5'9 and India Arie were among the many re-sharing the post—many learned Sinbad had suffered an ischemic stroke in October 2020 and has been fighting to get his life back ever since.

"Sinbad appreciates all the love and support you have shown him over the last two years," the caption read. "Many of you have asked for updates and if there is anything Sinbad needs or what you can do to help. Stetsasonic Pays Tribute To Hip Hop's "Fallen Soldiers" With Powerful New Video

Stetsasonic has returned with a new visual for "Fallen Soldiers," which will live on the Brooklyn Hip Hop legends' first album in 30 years, Here We Go Again. Presented by Chuck D's SpitSLAM Record Label Group and Odad Truth Records, the video begins with the sounds of marching footsteps as photos of DMX, Coolio, Heavy D and Biz Markie flood the page. Throughout the song, Daddy-O reflects on the seemingly endless losses the Hip Hop community has experienced over the years.

Anchored by a sample of The Beatles' Abbey Road single "Come Together" (1969), the song brilliantly illustrates just how dire the situation is and has been. From the recent shooting death of Migos rapper Takeoff to last year's killing of Memphis rap staple Young Dolph, the rate at which rappers

Ab-Soul Announces New Album "Herbert" With "Gang'Nem" Video

Top Dawg Entertainment's Ab-Soul has announced a new album called "Herbert," a reference to his real name, Herbert Anthony Stevens IV. To coincide with the announcement, the 35-year-old MC has dropped a video for "Gang'Nem" featuring Fre$h, the second single from the project. Over a dark, emotive beat produced by Sounwave, Ab-Soul raps about his come-up in Carson, California, the realities of street culture and some of the challenges he's encountered along the way.

"'Herbert' is a deliberately intimate portrait of the man behind Ab-Soul going back to his foundation, as noted by the name of the record, leaving the conspiracy theories he’s known for behind while emphasizing his musicality," the press release describes. "After suffering through a series of unspeakable tragedies,

The BROCKHAMPTON collective—comprised of Merlyn Wood, Kevin Abstract, Joba, Matt Champion, Dom McLennon, and Romil Hemnani, among others—exploded on the scene with 2017's "Saturation" and "Saturation II," garnering critical acclaim along the way.
