Lee Scratch Perry speaks on tragic studio fire

Dub legend Lee 'Scratch' Perry has opened up about a recent incident which saw his studio burn down. The Jamaican music producer informed fans earlier this month that his secret laboratory (aka Blue Ark) studio in Switzerland had burned down in a fire, after he left a candle lit in it. "My whole secret laboratory burned out," Perry wrote on Facebook at the time. Now Perry has spoken to Red Bull Music Academy for a new interview in which he explained: "I was doing a song and then another song come into my mind, so I go down to the studio again. I go to bed at about six o'clock in the morning, and when I come up from downstairs I forget to blow out the candle - it was on top of a bible. Kanye West has requested complete solitude while he finishes off his new album 'SWISH'. West took to Twitter to announce that he is finishing his album and his next clothing collection. He followed it with, "no offense to anyone… I'm asking everyone DON'T ASK ME FOR ANYTHING TILL AFTER I'M FINISHED WITH MY ALBUM". Bossip, a site that describes itself as "the premier destination for African-American pop culture and entertainment", was having a debate about female rappers on its Twitter account, where they retweeted comments about Minaj. President Obama picks Kendrick Lamar for favorite song of 2015

President Barack Obama has named Kendrick Lamar's "How Much a Dollar Cost" as his favorite song of 2015. The song itself features a hook from James Fauntleroy and cameo by the Isley Brothers' Ronald Isley, and is known as the emotional centerpiece on To Pimp A Butterfly. "It's a true story," Lamar told MTV News. "These are moments in my life deeper than just handing somebody a dollar. These are actually moments of integrity, actually being able to talk to somebody. Hotline Bling by Drake was not submitted for 2016 Grammy Awards

Due to a mix up by Drake's record company, his latest single "Hotline Bling" was reportedly not submitted for next year’s Grammy Awards. Drake is currently up for five nominations at the upcoming ceremony including Best Rap Performance for 'Back to Back', and Best Rap Song for 'Energy'. But Drake's 'Hotline Bling' was reportedly overlooked by his record label, Cash Money. The song was not submitted due to a clerical error and would have been up for multiple awards, including Record Of The Year.
