Dr. Dre's Seminal Solo Debut "The Chronic" Returns To Streaming

Dr. Dre's seminal solo debut, The Chronic, is finally back on streaming services in honor of its 30th anniversary. Upon becoming the new owner of Death Row last year, Snoop Dogg noticeably took it down, along with other titles like Doggystyle.  But with the help of Interscope Records, the album's original home, The Chronic is back.

“I'm thrilled to bring The Chronic home to its original distribution partner, Interscope Records," Dr. Dre said in a press release. "Working alongside my longtime colleagues Steve Berman and John Janick to re-release the album and make it available to fans all over the world is a full-circle moment for me."

Berman added, "Dr. Dre is without a doubt one of the most iconic and groundbreaking artists of the modern era. H

The controversial song caused an uproar online, with Bootie Brown telling Rolling Stone he never agreed to appearing on the "reunion" song. He explained, "It’s my voice, but they lifted the vocals from another project. I can’t remember what it was. I don’t know where they got the lyric or who they got it from. I definitely know it’s an outside project that I did

DJ Shadow Plots Seventh Studio Album With Mass Appeal For Hip Hop 50

DJ Shadow has announced a follow-up to 2019's Our Pathetic Age is coming later this year. In a newsletter, the veteran DJ/producer shared he began working on the album, his seventh, at the top of 2022. He noted it's drastically different from Our Pathetic Age and includes fewer guest features.

"As usual, I didn’t have any preconceived notions or objectives, I just started by making music that made me feel good or satisfied vague objectives in my mind," he wrote. "By mid-March, certain themes began to take shape, and a loose set of personal 'rules' decided, which helped me navigate toward a cohesive body of work.
