NYC Soundtrack Series Goes Hip-Hop

On November 21 at 8 p.m., The Hip-Hop Soundtrack Series goes down at (le) poisson rouge in New York City, which is located on 158 Bleeker St. The concept behind the event is to tell stories about the songs that have impacted the lives of various people in the music industry. Host Dana Rossi is actually the founder and co-creator of the Soundtrack Series. Armed with her incredibly vivacious personality and natural charisma, she concocted the idea over three years ago in spring 2009. At first, she was unsure of how it would be received. "When I first got this idea, I thought, 'what if I'm one of a really small group of people that just sort of connects points in their life to music?' I'm not saying I'd be the only one, but I was worried that only music nerds do this," Ro

Wally Clark of Gummy Soul releases new project

Fresh off the success of 93 Still, the exclusive remix album of Souls of Mischief's 93 'Til Infinity, Gummy Soul's Wally Clark is back with his 2nd solo release, and is BandCamp's featured artist. The Nashville native, who founded Gummy Soul in 2008, combines Tennessee's rich history of Soul music, with his love of Hip-Hop, to create a feel that is both new, and from another time. On Sportin' Waves, Clark uses his smokey voice, to seduce the listener with Southern charm and effortless wit. The result is a moody, sexually charged album, full of clever tales that are funny, yet lyrically advanced, and filled with inebriated wisdom. Cas One - The Monster And The Wishing Well album review

I was blessed with an advanced copy of Cas One's second full-length album The Monster And The Wishing Well. I felt like I was sitting on an incredible new drug and I couldn't wait to give you all this feeling. This record will breathe life into the forever-thirsty masses of knowledge seekers and the underground free radicals alike. It's truly refreshing without the harmful side effects of monotony because it's all natural with no record labels involved, just Cas One and his crew. Cas definitely doesn't walk alone through this 16-track composition. Two of his main production crew consists of his long time friends Eric Hunter and an electro wizard known as Figure, all three of them are straight out of Evansville, Indiana. Unusual suspects Bitter Stephens, Prolyphic & Metermaid

DOOMTREE announces Blowout Nine scheduled for December

It's a tradition in Minneapolis for it to be cold in December and for Doomtree to hold a Blowout - both of those will continue to happen this year. Blowout 9 will be held December 13th, 14th, & 15th at First Avenue Mainroom. Tickets will go on sale Friday, November 1st at noon CST. Members of Doomtree will be at The Depot this Saturday from 2:00-4:00pm selling tickets hand to hand. This year the crew has chosen four charities that the Blowout will be benefiting. They include Tubman Center, Southside Family Nurturing Center, Kicker Project, and True Food Council. When they take the stage together, they're an unstoppable storm of knuckle tattoos, fedoras, high-tops, and sensible flats - they're funny together, desperately serious together, and their loyalty to one another is pa
