MTV2 is bringing back Yo! by focusing on what drew fans to watch from the start: the music.
In this second installment of the special, they'll focus on 3 more songs -- Naughty By Nature's "OPP," Common's "I Used to Love H.E.R." and "Straight Outta Compton" by N.W.A. -- and tell the stories behind each track, from the artists who penned and produced them, to the fans, insiders, artists and celebs who simply love the music.
Yo! all-stars making appearances include former Yo! MTV Raps hosts Fab 5 Freddy and Ed Lover, and hip-hop stars including Ice Cube, Naughty by Nature, Common, Fat Joe, No I.D., Talib Kweli, Fabolous, Wiz Khalifa, Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Machine Gun Kelly, Peter Rosenberg, Maino, Lil Eazy E, Joell Ortiz, DJ Quik, Charlamagne, Big Boy, Miss Info, Damien Lemon, and Bonsu Thompson.
You'll hear where they were when they first heard it, how it inspired them and how it became the soundtrack to a part of their lives. Their hip hop aficionados will provide personal anecdotes and contextualize each track.
Also included in the show will be flash backs to some classic Yo! MTV Raps moments, interviews, performances and characters that made the original show so special. Today, hip hop is the dominant force in music, but it would never have gotten there without the legendary tracks of the past. No other brand has both shaped and honored the legacy of hip hop more than Yo! MTV Raps, making it the perfect show to introduce a whole new generation of fans to these Classic Cuts.
Yo! MTV Raps Classic Cuts airs Sunday, February 19th at 10p/9c.
