Schoolboy Q Release Third Installment of Cinematic Blank Face Trailers

Last week, Schoolboy Q finally released Blank Face, his highly anticipated new album.  Prior to the release, Schoolboy Q started dropping a series of lushly filmed, visually-arresting, cinematic trailers as a way to drum up excitement for the the album.  While the first two trailers were released in the preceding weeks, Q just released the final installment today.

The new trailer features a dreamlike sequence of events with the song “Black Thoughts” playing in the background.  This visuals in this video depict Schoolboy Q being released from jail after being arrested for being in the wrong place at the wrong time amid the fallout of a pawn shop robbery.  Q is seen coming home to his daughter, only to step back onto a prisoner transport vehicle as the ending credits start to roll.

While speaking with Rolling Stone about Blank Face, Q revealed that he made a lot of “depressed rap” during the making of this album.  “ I switched the whole album up as I got into myself and I got comfortable again,” he said.  “I told myself, stop crying like a little b-tch and do what you love to do.”  He went on to say “It was like a confession thing. I didn’t want people to hear me like that; that depression doesn’t last. A few months, and then it was over. Y’all are never hearing them records.”  Blank Face has been predicted to sell between 50,000 and 55,00 copies in its first week, with  63,000 to 70,000 in sales plus streaming units.

The album is now available for purchase, and Schoolboy Q can also be seen on tour promoting the album, which includes guest appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Anderson.Paak, Jadakiss, Vince Staples, and a host of other artists.
