Raw Poetic Takes Us Back To Hip Hop's Roots With "Ease Side" Ahead of New Album

MC/lyricist Jason Moore and guitarist P-Fritz—collectively known as Raw Poetic—hav announced their next album, Away Back Out, with a taste of the project titled "Ease Side." The album follows the 2022 releases of Laminated Skies and Space Beyond The Solar System, and further brings their fusion of Hip Hop, jazz and garage rock into focus. Production by frequent collaborator Damu the Fudgemunk is the cherry on top.

Hailing from the Northern Virginia/DC-metro area, Moore and Fritz have been collaborating on experimental Hip Hop for roughly two decades, first in the Hip Hop band Restoring Poetry in Music (RPM) and later in the Rawkus-signed group, Panacea. Their collaborative album with Archie Shepp, 2021ʼs Ocean Bridges, reignited their spark for creation and they quickly got to work.

The 11 tracks on Away Back Out are the refreshing results. In a musical landscape littered with vacuous lyrics and boring, homogenized production, Raw Poetic hearkens back to Hip Hop's roots and, at the same time, transports us to a simpler time. Listen to "Ease Side" below and pre-order Away Back Out here ahead of its August 25 release.
