Killer Mike and El-P Set Date for "RTJ3"

Christmas came early for Run Jewelers out there, as Killer Mike and El-P finally announce the official release for their much-awaited RTJ3.

The news dropped on the group's official web page where the duo announced the good news, headlined with all-caps, “RTJ3 is ready”, followed by a streamable version of their newest single, “Legend Has It”, which provides a sneak peak of what fans can expect with the forthcoming album—so be sure to check that out.

The album is scheduled to hit shelves and stores nationwide next year, January 13th, with the international release date being January 20th. Aside from this, partnership with RED Distribution offers the album available for free download via CD and LP option as well.

In terms of the RTJ3, the album features multiple guest artists, such as Danny Brown, Kamasi Washington, Tunde Adebimpe from TV on the Radio, Trina, Boots, and several others. While previous songs “Talk to Me”, “Panther Like a Panther”, and “2100” make a reappearance on the album, a full tracklist can be found on the web page as well.

The album also comes with a familiar take on its art direction, still fashioned with the mind of Timothy Saccenti, depicting their trademark hand sculptures, this time clad in gold. In accordance to this, RTJ wrote, “For us, the RTJ1 hands were about 'taking what's yours' – your world, your life, your attitude. The RTJ2 hands were wrapped in bandages, signifying injury and healing, which for us represented the growth in ideas and tone of that album.”

In continuation, “For RTJ3 the bandages are off, the chain is gone and the hands have been transformed into gold. For us this represents the idea that there is nothing to take that exists outside of yourself. You are the jewel.”
