Ferris Wheel Jay: The RAPstation Interview

Brooklyn's own Ferris Wheel Jay has just released a high-tech, glossy new video for "Soho," the new single from his forthcoming EP, House Of Hearts. The video is directed by New York’s Bravo Media and features several of Jay's affiliates as he takes a leisurely stroll through the eclectic Soho streets. Emceeing is just one faction of Jay's passion for the entertainment industry. He is also one-third of the production team Trakformaz, who produced "Soho" and also the new French Montana single "Off The Rip," among others. Never one to limit himself, Jay has an ever-growing list of television credits on MTV, FOX 5 News, "Ridiculousness," "Silent Library," and is currently working with the Oxygen Network. Check out what Jay had to tell us about all of his recent ventures. Please visit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DqlikS5tKhU to watch the "Soho" video. Tell us about the Soho lifestyle. The Soho lifestyle is whatever you make it because the area really has all types of personalities. You see the average blue collared dude chilling alongside the dude with a Ferrari and it’s all love. Yeah the rich dude probably feels like he's the shit, but the bottom line is that the streets are a supreme equalizer so all that other stuff gets checked. I spent several years working in the area and it's not only about style. It's also about culture, music, art, dancers, and everything in between. What can we expect from House Of Hearts? You can expect a snapshot of my life when you listen to House of Hearts. Each song connects with a story about pain, love, struggle, and reaching for the top. The best part of it all...doing it with the team. Om from Bravo Media and JP Matias, both who are executive producing my EP are making sure we give the audience something to remember. All the production is handled by me and my production team TrakfFormaz (FWJ, Burn'emup & KevKeyz). Be sure to check out a joint we just produced for French Montana called "Off The Rip". It's important to see that we are producing the EP out of a passion for the art. There are no expectations other than to put out some dope music. Who are some of your production heroes? Some of my production heroes, of course, would be Pharrell, Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, and Darkchild, but working side-by-side with my crew TrakFormaz will always be the case. Also, my pops JP Matias (AKA J.Prince), who produced demos and helped land deals for groups back in the day like Mos Def and Da Bush Babees and my uncle Burn'emup and Bangout, who worked with Dangerous LLC and produced Disco Inferno for 50 Cent, Car Wash for Cristina and Missy Elliot, and a bunch of other bangers.    What acting projects are you working on? I'm currently coming out in a TV series on the Oxygen Network called "Player Gets Played." It premieres June 10th. I'm a music artist on the show, which portrays my dating and social life. I can't say much more so you're just gonna have to wait until it comes out! As the late great Big Pun said, "I'm not a playa/I just crush a lot". What are you listening to right now? Right now, I'm listening to Coldplay, Kanye West, and I have the French Montana single, "Off The Rip" on constant play. The song is also getting a lot of spins on the radio so it's pretty exciting to be walking around and randomly hear something you worked on blasting out of someone's car. It's a really exciting time.
