Eff Yoo: The RAPstation Album Review

My man Eff is the living breathing embodiment of New York City. He's as Queens as the legends that've come before him. I've been a fan and supporter for a few years now and have been lucky enough to converse with him on many occasions (we're still looking to meet in person on my next American excursion).

The sign of a true artist is their growth in the art form they've chosen. The Eff Word is a reflection of just that. With a sharp wit and verbal dexterity Eff takes us on a journey through his NYC streets, his personal inner thoughts and draws us in with brilliant story telling rhymes. Equal parts bravado and sincerity.

I must mention the clarity in his delivery. Eff is blessed with a voice heavy with charm and charisma but laced with a hint of danger that if pushed could flare up. It's there in his lyrics. The true gentleman and scholar with the ability to get the job done when required. Street smarts.

This time the production comes from Rediculus solely. I've not been that familiar with his work but from now on I will be. He makes beats and sounds that give me that real New York vibe. Soulful and rugged with a classically smooth vibe that perfectly matches Eff's delivery. It's a sign of real chemistry and this release has it in abundance. I'm gonna be watching Rediculus from now on no doubt about it.

Unlike most releases this isn't littered with a ton of guest appearances that swamp the artist and their album. With a tight selection from Eff's Broken Home family, a Brown Bag Allstars member and a Queens legend in the form of Big Noyd things are rounded out nicely.

I don't want to go into each track in a detailed way because I find those kind of reviews can detract from the listening experience as a whole. I suggest you do the right thing, spend a little money and soak up a great album. Treat it with love and respect. It was made with both and a heap of integrity.
