Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E.'s Monsta O Has Died

Boo-Yaa T.R.I.B.E. bassist Monsta O—real name Danny Devoux—reportedly died on October 12 at the age of 56, although the cause of death hasn't been disclosed.

Originating in Carson, California, the West Coast gangsta rap group was comprised of Ted, Paul, Donald, Roscoe, Danny, David and later, Vincent Devoux (who eventually replaced David).

In the 2000s, Monsta O joined Death Row Records as part of the production crew “Row Hitters" alongside Darren Vegas and Jim Gittum. Together, they worked on 2Pac’s posthumous album "Until The End Of Time," Tha Dogg Pound's 2002 album and early KXNG Crooked solo material. Monsta O and the rest of the T.R.I.B.E. also collaborated with Eminem, B-Real and others on 2003’s "West Coasta Nostra."

Monsta O’s death follows the 2018 passing of fellow member Godfather Ted as well as the passing of Ganxsta Ridd, who died from COVID-19 complications in 2020.
