BEP and Iconic Artists Re-address the Familiar Line, “Where Is The Love?”

Surfacing out of the devastating 9/11 tragedies, The Black-Eyed Peas introduced their thought-provoking single, “Where Is The Love”.

With current threats and tumults on the rise, the American dance-pop group returns with an updated take on the song’s lyrics, but nevertheless, raising the same message.

“I remember when the attack in Paris happened, people would say, ‘We need ‘Where Is The Love?’ again’, spoke BEP frontman Will.I.Am. in a previous video post, “And then Belgium happened, and then Turkey, and then Orlando, and then Philando, and then Alton Sterling before him, and then Dallas… Everyone was calling on us like, ‘We need that song again’”.

And it appears they aren’t alone regarding the need to speak out. Returning with the song is a revamped coalition of artists and personalities taking part in the movement.

The rendition features a multitude of prominent figures, ranging from the Hip-hop scene’s Ty Dolla $ign, P Diddy, The Game, and A$AP Rocky, to well-known pop and R&B artists such as Tori Kelly, Mary J. Blige, Usher, and Nicole Scherzinger.

The music video also features pathos-invoking clips featuring Sandra Sterling and Valerie Castile of the Alton and Philando cases, as well as chief David Brown from the Dallas police enforcement. Cameo appearances from Rosario Dawson, Quincy Jones, Lance Bass, and Snoop Dogg, are also incorporated to the visual.

“I hope this song inspires the millennial [generation] to go all out,” adds Will in regard to the song, “Scream from the tallest mountain… Care like your freedom depends on it… Pay attention like that is at risk”.

In a time of tremendous tumult and unmerited violence, artists have come together in one voice, raising the familiar question.
