A&E Miniseries - The Streets of Compton

The Streets of Compton, a new A&E miniseries airing on Thursday, June 9th, will offer viewers a gritty glimpse into the Southern California city.  Narrated by The Game and featuring music from his companion soundtrack, the miniseries will explore how the city notorious for its crime transformed into an artistic nexus that produced some of the most important works of music of the last 50 years.

After being jettisoned into the forefront of American consciousness by NWA, the esteemed rap group recently memorialized in the Hollywood blockbuster Straight Outta Compton, the city of Compton went on to produce a number of other hip hop luminaries such as The Game and Kendrick Lamar.  With its unwavering examination of life in Compton, the miniseries will not only present a harrowing history of the violence and gang activity that sill plague Compton to this day, but it will also endeavor to show how that culture became the impetus behind a profoundly important style of music that still exerts a strong impact on hip hop.

Featuring interviews with many famous Compton residents such as Anthony Anderson, Dj Yella, Arabian Prince, MC Eiht, and Kendrick Lamar, the first two parts of the series will air on Thursday, June 9th at 9pm and 10pm ET/PT, and the third part will follow on Thursday, June 16 at 10pm ET/PT.
