Karega Bailey drops new video for Sunny Days

There isn't a stronger, more commanding voice in hip-hop right now louder than Karega Bailey's. Born in Brooklyn, Bailey's parents emigrated from Jamaica and relocated to Sacramento when he was a child. Now the award-winning spoken word poet, D.C. educator and politically minded emcee is just waiting to explode. Endorsed by Public Enemy's Chuck D on his RAPstation show "Songs That Mean Something," Bailey is on rap's radar. His forthcoming album, the Peace King EP, drops at the end of January 2015. In anticipation of the album, Bailey is proud to announce a new video for "Sunny Days," the 5th track on the record. Produced by EOM and directed by JaeSynth, it features California-based emcees Mark Knoxx and Chaycin Change with Malcolm Stokes on the trumpet. In perhaps one of the

Idris Goodwin: The RAPstation Interview

Idris Goodwin The RAPstation Interview By Kyle Eustice HBO Def Jam spoken word poet, award-winning playwright, educator, and emcee Idris Goodwin spent six months steadily writing material for his new album, Rhyming While Black. The Colorado Springs transplant spits with honesty, conviction and passion, which in turn makes powerful hip-hop music. Goodwin isn't rapping about materialistic matters, he's addressing race, politics and his role in hip-hop culture. From the very Public Enemy-inspired album opener, "Ode to the Mic" to "Culture Wars" and closer "Still Got It," Rhyming While Black is brimming with neo boom-bap flavor and classic, hard-hitting bass. The album was partially funded through an Indiegogo campaign. "The crowd funding approach is really gratifying," Goodwin

Mike Mictlan from Doomtree: The RAPstation Interview Part 2

Mike Mictlan Interview Pt. 2 By Kyle Eustice On New Year's Eve 2014, Mike Mictlan was undoubtedly doing something way more interesting than typing on his laptop. But in the words of Snoop Dogg, "That's the life of a G, I guess." Hopefully he was in good spirits. He should be. After all, the Doomtree emcee just finished the tenth (and final) year of the crew's annual Doomtree Blowout in Minneapolis, dropped his third solo album, Hella Frreal, on October 27, 2014 and is about to drop another record with Doomtree. Not to mention, he pulled himself out of the depths of hell and got back on his feet over the past year. As revealed in Part One of the Mictlan interview (www.rapstation.com/news/mike.mictlan.pt1), it was a rough road. In Part Two, Mictlan addresses his battle with addiction,
