Wiz Khalifa announces Project Khalifa coming in January
Wiz Khalifa has officially announced his plan to release new music in 2016. Khalifa announced the news in a Christmas message addressed to fans on YouTube, entitled 'Wiz Sends a Message to his Taylors'. "I plan on putting out a project with some unreleased music that nobody's ever heard before and I’m going to call it 'Project Khalifa' and that's actually going to be available in January," says Khalifa in the video. The Pittsburgh born rapper also announced that he is planning to release a sequel to 'Rolling Papers', his third studio album that came out in 2011. During Khalifa's European tour in October, he released two new songs on his SoundCloud titled 'Outsiders' and 'Just Because'. Prince has unveiled his 38th studio album, HITNRUN Phase 2, following on from September's release HITNRUN. Like it's predecessor, HITNRUN Phase 2 is currently available to stream or download only through the Tidal streaming platform. Prince announced the release via his twitter, saying "listen close cuz even songs you thought you knew like RocknRoll LoveAffair and Screwdriver r different." Around the time of the release of HITNRUN, Prince explained his reasoning behind choosing to work with Tidal, saying: "After one meeting, it was obvious that Jay-Z and the team he has assembled at Tidal recognize and applaud the effort that real musicians put into their craft to achieve the very best they can at this pivotal time in the music industry." Rita Ora has filed a lawsuit against Jay Z's label, Roc Nation, claiming that her contract with the label "violates California law and is unenforceable". Ora, who is now 25, joined Roc Nation when she was 18 years old. On December 17th, she filed a complaint at the Los Angeles Superior Court and described herself as orphaned by Roc Nation, which has shifted it's focus to sports management and Tidal. The complaint reads, "When Rita signed, Roc Nation and its senior executives were very involved with her as an artist. As Roc Nation's interests diversified, there were fewer resources available and the company suffered a revolving door of executives. A total of seventy-four songs from movie soundtracks have been released as potential nominees for next year's Oscars. The Hollywood Reporter published the list after the Academy announced them as "advanced" for the 88th Academy Awards, which will be broadcast on February 28, 2016. The list features big names, including Eminem, Lady Gaga, Wiz Khalifa, and N.E.R.D. The Weeknd, Sia, and Ellie Goulding have all made the list for their contributions to the soundtrack for '50 Shades Of Grey'.
