Three Questions with Raashan Ahmad
Three Questions with Raashan Ahmad By Kyle Eustice Although Raashan Ahmad was born in Trenton, New Jersey, grew up in Los Angeles and honed his craft in Oakland, these days he's repping a 505 area code. Now based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, the former Crown City Rockers emcee has found the idyllic place to create the kind of music he wants to make. In most of Raashan's recent solo work, there seems to be an undeniable spiritual component, which lifts the listener up like magic. As he continues globetrotting from country-to-country and state-to-state, Raashan carries a message of gratitude for simply being able to share his love of music. 2010's For What You've Lost truly told Raashan's story; from "Pain On Black" to "Sunshine," the album addresses many of Raashan's most personal

This is one of many head nodding tracks from the release and another great collaboration initiated by Red Venom. The B Boy style production comes from Poz which carries the lyrical flavor. Red Venom has been killing the Manchester scene in the UK for many years, battling the stage as a dope Emcee and rocking the crowds, he also headed a funk & jazz group "Frantic" while they toured the UK in the late nineties. Red Venom has worked with artists such as Blaq Poet, Team Fearless, Roni Size, Artful Dodger, The Freestylers, Tim Dogg, The Prodigy, Kurtis Blow & many more. Hail Mary Mallon has unveiled its new video for "4AM" from sophomore effort, Bestiary, which dropped via Rhymesayers Entertainment in November 2014. Shot in New York City, the black and white video depicts lots of skateboarding, presumably at 4 a.m. Starting with the phrase, "I consider myself a daredevil," the track proceeds to take you through a whirlwind of the usual cryptic lyrics from Aesop and more straightforward rhymes from Rob Sonic. Currently on a massive nationwide tour in support of Bestiary, Aesop Rock and Rob Sonic are probably asleep by 4 a.m. Performing such dope tracks night after night is tiring.
