Yasiin Bey, a.k.a. Mos Def, will retire from producing new music before the end of the year. The hip hop legend will give his fans one last studio album before retiring, though you'll need a TIDAL subscription if you want to hear Bey's swan song.
Bey will be teaming up with relatively new producer Ferrari Shepard for his final album. The duo will be known as December 99th, and the self-titled album will be released for streaming exclusively on the TIDAL service on December 9th.
Fans can regularly check the album's TIDAL page for updates and singles.
Bey also recently announced the dates and locations for his final live performances.
Bey, also know by his stage name Mos Def, has been producing music since 1994. Besides his extensive solo and acting work, he is best known for being one half of the rap duo Black Star, alongside fellow hip hop veteran Talib Kweli. While Bey is retiring from music, he will continue to flex his creative talents, as he says he plans to enter the fashion industry following his exit from entertainment.
