It’s been a pretty awesome week for Travis Scott—or rather, it’s actually been an awesome night for the young rapper/producer.
It appears Scott has sparked a nationwide internet invasion with the release of his much-awaited sophomore album, Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight—a project which he characterized as “Straight to the meat” and an “album that everybody would enjoy”.
Fans are also appealing quite happily to the wide scape of artists featured in the project; the album showcases collaborations from Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, 21 Savage, and Kid Cudi. The album was announced by Scott himself on his Beats 1 radio show and has dubbed it an Apple Music excusive.
However, later on that same day Scott sat down for an interview with Rolling Stone and unveiled the forthcoming of the vastly-speculated Cruel Winteralbum, with Scott donned as executive producer.
When asked about the rumored compilation album, Scott replied with: “We’ve got singles on top of singles on top of singles on top of nuclear bombs”, alluding to hype up the upcoming album under Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music label.
Cruel Winter is the supposed continuation album following West’s 2012 compilation record Cruel Summer—an album fundamentally relayed to lukewarm reception. Nevertheless, Scott’s optimism and excitement regarding the unveiled collective presents as both intriguing and quaintly-satisfying.
Later on, Scott sat with Billboard and continued expressing his satisfaction regarding his new album, much of his affirmation pointing towards the artists involved in its production. According to Scott, the entirety of the album’s production, including its collaborators, as well as being on tour with Rihanna and the Weekend, have all been a season for learning and adjusting to varying styles.
That being said, it will be very interesting to see Scott’s productive polishing on West’s Cruel Winter.
