Torii Wolf, the enigmatic singer-songwriter backed by the legendary DJ Premier, is back with her third single, which features production work from Joe Budden producer araabMUZIK.
"Body" is the third single from Wolf, who is currently working on her debut album,Flow Riiot. Her first two singles were the DJ Premier produced "Shadows Crawl" and "1st," which were released earlier this year. "1st" also received a remix from LA-based hip hop trio Dilated Peoples. "Body" sees Wolf channeling the sound and feeling of New York City on a rainy summer day. In an interview with Complex, Wolf delved into feelings behind the moody, complex track."There is nothing like the hot summer rain in New York. It has always felt so sexy to me” Torii told Complex. “That heat, the heat caused by friction and deep connection. I wrote this song about how much I need to torrentially fall with the rain.”
The new, non LP track is produced by araabMUZIK, fresh off the release of his sophmore album, the aurally diverse Dream World, earlier this year. The self proclaimed MVP of the MPC has worked with artists like 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Azealia Banks, and Eminem in the past and now he's blending his legendary real time drum machine and mixing skills with Wolf's soulful vocals. “Two very unique styles (dope vocals and a dope track) merging to create a masterpiece," araabMUZIK said of the collaboration. "Big shout-out to DJ Premier for the opportunity to work with Torii; she is the future.” araabMUZIK is the third producer to compliment Wolf's style, as both DJ Premier and Dilated Peoples' Evidence both expressed praise for the singer earlier this year.
