The Roots are a busy band -- besides performing on The Tonight Show every night, hosting their own music festival, and Questlove's weekly radio show, and now they're adding even more to their plate by recording a brand new album.
"In 1996 w our 3rd album #IlladelphHalflife we decided to be our own sampling source and jam in the day and sample ourselves at night. 20 years later we are working on our 17th album entitled #Endgame...," Questlove announced on Instagram. "We startin all over again. Here the gawd [producer] Stro Elliot is breaking out his get busy tools and making ish sound tight!"
Endgame will be The Roots' 11th studio album and 17th full album release overall.
Jazz musician and producer Karriem Riggins, who has worked with artists like Common, Talib Kweli, and Erykah Badu in the past, announced on Facebook that he will be doing production work on The Roots' latest.
Earlier this year, Questlove said that The Roots had "two or three secret, major musical projects that I'm working on that I can't really talk about," one of which can now be assumed is Endgame. In addition to the new album, rumors continue to swirl about the band doing a possible major collaboration with R&B singer Usher, whom they performed a full live concert with back in September of this year.
