The recent shooting at a T.I. concert and the subsequent arrest of rapper Troy Ave has reignited discussion about hip-hop's negative portrayal in the media and its role in reinforcing negative stereotypes. Redman has chimed in with his thoughts on the situation, which he calls "Horrible, horrible."
"I don’t know the story, and now everybody’s saying this and that, and I’m hearing different shit about it, you know. But at the end of the day that’s why the media is always talking shit because of moves like that,” Redman said in an interview with HipHopDX.
“We must start thinking about the moves we make, ladies and gentleman. Especially [my people], my culture. Let’s start thinking about the moves we make." Redman said while voicing his concerns over how incidents like the Troy Ave shooting reflect on the hip-hop community at large.
