There's no shortage of rappers feuding with Kid Cudi right now, but the Cleveland rapper's personal troubles haven't stopped him from releasing the video for "Surfin," a triumphant, upbeat track featuring Pharrell.

"Tonight is electrical / I done told y'all, this the cinema /I am on my Kubrick horn / Like a Spielberg Close Encounter form," Cudi spits on "Surfin," the second single off of his upcoming new album, whose energetic, victorious tone is far removed from the rapper's recent personal battles. "Feelin' awesome to be black, and I'm murkin' all competition," Cudi continues. "Makin' what I want and that's a flex."
The track was created as a collaboration with Pharrell, and the video also features cameo appearances from Jaden Smith and A$AP Rocky.
The long running rivalry between Cudi and Drake was reignited last week when Drake released the diss track "Two Birds One Stone," which allegedly mocks Cudi's struggle with clinical depression. Many other rappers have since decided to join in on the fight, including Chicago rapper Lupe Fiasco, who admitted that the fight between the rappers was "childish and petty," but nonetheless voiced his continued hatred for Cudi, whom Fiasco claims once falsely accused him of being a thief.
Kid Cudi is currently undergoing rehab for his clinical depression. His upcoming album, Passion, Pain & Demon Slaying, was inspired by Cudi's long running struggle with the illness, and will feature guest appearances from Andre 3000, Willow Smith, and Travis Scott. The album will mark Cudi's return to hip hop, as his previous album, Speedin Bullet 2 Heaven, saw the rapper experiment with a new, grunge and alt rock-inspired sound. Passion, Pain & Demon Slaying was originally scheduled to be released in full this year, but the release was delayed following clearance issues with some of the samples used -- which is coincidentally, the same reason behind the shelving of Lupe Fiasco's upcoming trilogy of albums.
