The 20th anniversary of Jay Z's seminal debut "Reasonable Doubt" is this year, and fans of the rapper and industry mogul will be able to mark the occasion with a tour of a recreation of the studio Jay Z recorded the influential album in, as well as the chance to buy some rare Jigga merchandise.
According to Pitchfork, the pop-up shop and exhibition will be open for a limited time in New York City, from October 20th through the 23rd. The exhibition will feature an exact recreation of the studio where a then unknown Jay Z and DJ Premier created "Reasonable Doubt," featuring some of the original equipment they used. The pop up shop within the exhibition will also sell exclusive Jay Z merchandise that only be available at the shop, including clothing, specially branded headphones and turntables, and more.
"Reasonable Doubt" was originally released in 1996, just one year after Jay Z, Damon Dash, and Kareem Biggs founded their own independent record label, Roc-A-Fella Records. Before "Reasonable Doubt," Jay couldn't get a record deal, and was selling CD's out of his car -- a far cry from the millionaire Jigga of today. "Reasonable Doubt" received an overwhelmingly positive reception from critics and was eventually certified platinum by the RIAA.
