The GZA has announced that he's planning to perform his celebrated 1995 album Liquid Swords live, in its entirety, in New York and Chicago this fall.
The Genius of Wu-Tang Clan has released seven studio albums, and while all of them were relatively well received, nothing can match the near mythic reputation of his second album, Liquid Swords. Widely considered to be one of the (if not the) best hip hop albums of all time, the GZA will be revisiting Liquid Swords for two special live shows this Fall.
Tickets for these events are available via the venue's website.
Liquid Swords was originally recorded in fellow Wu-Tang Clan member RZA's basement, but despite its humble beginnings, the album went on to earn a platinum sales certification from the RIAA and a rare perfect score from the infamously hard to please critics at Pitchfork. Other hip hop artists and critics were nearly unanimous in their praise of the album, with The Source saying "throughout Liquid Swords [the GZA] maintains a clear, precise flow, one that reflects deadly-sharp purpose and skilled execution."
The GZA is currently working on his seventh studio album, Dark Matter, which is scheduled to be released sometime this year.
