You might want to ask for a few more iTunes gift cards for the holidays, because it looks like December is going to be a busy month for new hip hop. Today, Pharrell and Wiz Khalifa have dropped new tracks, and Lupe Fiasco has promised to release a new song this evening.
Pharrell has released "Able," the third of his tracks off of the upcoming Hidden Figures soundtrack. The film, which was produced by the N.E.R.D. artist, details the contributions of a trio of female African American mathematicians to NASA's space program during the 1960's. Pharrell previously released two, 60's-inspired tracks from the film in October.
Wiz Khalifa released not one, not two, but three new songs today -- you can listen to them here. The songs were released to commemorate the four year anniversary of the release of Wiz's O.N.I.F.C. project. The three new tracks, "Young Millionaires," "Speech," and "You Party," see Khalifa looking back at his past and his journey from meager beginnings to his current status as one of the most commercially successful acts in hip hop.
Lupe Fiasco has promised to release a new track, "Killers," today. Fiasco promised to release the video game themed song if one of his favorite Street Fighter players, Du "NuckleDu" Dang won the Capcom Cup, a Street Fighter tournament held in Anaheim over the weekend. NuckleDu pulled through and won the tournament, and Fiasco has told his Twitter followers to expect the song tonight. Fiasco is a well known fan of Street Fighter, and gained recognition for his skills when he defeated one of Japan's top players in a match earlier this year.
