The National Hip Hop Museum's art galley in Washington D.C., The House of Hip Hop, has open a new exhibit called "Hip Hop's Golden Age." Described as "an immersive experience of Hip Hop's golden years," the exhibit includes a replica of a Death Row Records electric chair, a brick from Eminem's 8 Mile home, Rakim's "Paid In Full" jacket crafted by Dapper Dan, one of Kangol Kid's Kangol hats and Keith Cowboy's cowboy hat.
"The use of gold has become synonymous with Hip-Hop and cultural status," National Hip Hop Museum founder Jeremy Beaver told RAPstation. "The golden era of Hip Hop refers to a time when the genre was becoming the new audio gold and that's represented in the exhibit."
The National Hip Hip Museum held an induction ceremony in August at the Nappy Roots-owned Atlantucky brewery, where Chubb Rock, Slick Rick, Kool G. Rap, Diamond D, U.T.F.O. and Whodini were inducted. For more information on the National Hip Hop Museum, head here.
