Jidenna Opens for Netflix' “Luke Cage” with “Long Live the Chief”

Jidenna is an American recording artist and producer, signed under Epic Records, and was among the first to be featured on Rap Station's exclusive Spotlight Artist segment.

Gaining prominence through singles such as “Classic Man” and “Yoga”, Rap Station catered acknowledged Jidenna's latest studio album, Long Live the Chief, and featured the record's title track, which topped the chart at #1 in the February 16thedition of Rap Station's Weekly Top 10.

“Long Live the Chief” was most recently featured on the Netflix original series Luke Cage, Marvel's latest installment to its vastly-recognized Cinematic Universe, which released its first season last September 30th, with its fifth episode opening to the artist Jidenna performing his song at a Night Club in Marvel's fictitious Hell's Kitchen. The series has been praised for incorporating a retrospective Hip-hop ambience into a somber New York backdrop.

Born in Wisconsin, raised partially in Nigeria before moving to Boston, Jidenna Theodore Mobisson released his first album in the form of his final project while studying at Milton Academy in Massachusetts. Mobisson graduated at Stanford in 2008 with a degree in Arts and dedicated full-time to his pursuits in music.

Adopting the stage name “Jidenna”, which in the Nigerian Igbo dialect translates to “embrace the father”, the young artist landed a label under Epic Records, and has collaborated with artists such as Roman GianArthur, St. Beauty, Deep Cotton, and Janelle Monae.
