As the moniker suggests, Kosha Dillz is about as Jewish as it gets. So naturally, when the New York City-based rapper and current member of "Wild 'N Out" caught wind of Kanye West's recent anti-Semitic rants on Twitter and in subsequent interviews, it didn't feel right to turn a blind eye.
On Friday (October 21), Kosha Dillz dropped a video for "Death Con 3," a reference to one of West's inflammatory tweets. (If you don't know what we're talking about it, Google it.) Shot in Crown Heights, the visual employs a 15-foot dreidel to display various Jewish references while featuring Jews of Color throughout the video.
"I think at a certain point, people who have a unique position like myself need to say something," Kosha tells RAPstation. "A lot of people are kind of reiterating the same things, but nobody is doing it in an artistic way. This isn't anything new. I'm on a show that was actually canceled for similar things, but the people repented. In this situation, it's a double down, a triple down and a quadruple down and it comes to a certain point where it's like, 'OK. How much more do we take and how much are you willing to put on the line?'
"I decided to make a song and a video and rap as hard as I have on a song, so that's what I did. That's why I have the line, 'You're a blind billionaire and I see the bitch in you' because money doesn't mean you can't have respect. There's way more broke people out there that have a lot of respect for everyone, including Jewish people. Kanye seems to think money lets him off the hook."
Luxury fashion brand Balenciaga and JP Morgan have already cut ties with Ye and many are expected to follow suit. Ari Emanual, CEO of Endeavor, issued a call-to-action in an op-ed for The Financial Times earlier this week, imploring corporate giants such as Apple and Spotify to stop doing business with him.
