Diddy won't be attending the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on February 4 despite his nomination in the Best Progressive R&B Album category for The Love Album: Off the Grid. The news comes weeks after his ex Cassie Ventura sued him for sexual and physical assault, which led to a cascade of lawsuits from other alleged victims. A rep for the Bad Boy Records founder confirmed with The Hollywood Reporter that he's skipping the ceremony altogether.
The Love Album debuted at No. 19 on Billboard’s 200 albums chart, and its single, “Another One of Me,” spent a single week on the Hot 100 chart, landing at No. 87. The album didn’t dominate streaming services or earn critical acclaim but was still recognized by music professionals and showed up at the awards show.
It was unclear how the Recording Academy was going to handle the situation. According to the Mirror, Recording Academy officials wanted Diddy removed from the guest list, while agents and publicists representing other celebrities requested their clients not be seated next to him.
While Diddy and Ventura settled their suit less than 24 hours after it was filed in a Manhattan federal court, the other sexual assault lawsuits remain. Last November, Combs stepped down as chairman of his own company Revolt, but he maintains his innocence.
