Cypress Hill's sophomore album, Black Sunday, was released on July 20, 1993, making Thursday (July 20) its 30th anniversary. To commemorate the occasion, Cypress Hill will descend on Denver's Mission Ballroom to perform Black Sunday in its entirety along with the Colorado Symphony.
Black Sunday made history upon its initial release, making Cypress Hill the first rap group to have two albums in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 at the same time. The album debuted at No. 1, selling more than 261,000 copies in its opening week. Bolstered by the singles "Insane In The Brain" and "I Ain't Going Out Like That," the project was a crossover smash and brought the group permanently into the mainstream. It's since been certified 4x-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
DJ Lord, who has toured with both Public Enemy and Prophets of Rage, will also be on deck. Tickets are currently on sale at AXS.com. Meanwhile, a special deluxe version of Black Sunday will be available July 20 as well. It includes a Statik Selektah remix of "Insane in the Brain" and much more. In the meantime, watch the original "Insane In The Brain" video below.
