One Man Can Change the World

Hip Hop artist Sean Michael Leonard Anderson also known as Big Sean founded the Sean Anderson Foundation on May 24, 2012. Anderson strives to assist with the health, safety and education of Detroit youth in addition to disadvantaged youth across the United States.

The objective of the Sean Anderson Foundation is to fund charitable programs devoted to combating homelessness, issuing health care to those who are uninsured as well as contributing to educational support and providing recreational programs for young children.

“Detroit and the entire country have shown me much love, and I passionately want to return that love,” said Anderson.

In 2015 Anderson brought artists like Lil Wayne, Mike Posner, DejLoaf, Eminem, Trick Trick and more together for a special show called “Finding Paradise” and all the proceeds from the show went to the Sean Anderson Foundation.

His most recent contribution to his hometown was a donation of $25,000 to Wayne State University’s HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program.

The HIGH Program helps the students at Wayne State University reach their graduation goals and reaches out to students in need of housing support, transportation, child-care assistance and school supplies. The program wants to assure students that they don’t need to abandon their degree because of financial issues.

Anderson has also contributed to Heal Flint’s Kids which is a fundraiser that supports the kids in Flint, Michigan due to their water being classified as undrinkable. The children of Flint were affected by lead poisoning and face potential health defects.

The Sean Anderson Foundation helped Heal Flint’s Kids by raising $78,999 and donations are still being accepted.

As an individual that attempts to serve as an inspiration to others, Anderson wants young people to know that hard work and determination can help them accomplish their dreams just as he did. Although Anderson has sold over 15 million records and won a number of awards, he continues to give back to his community because “One Man Can Change the World.”
