July 27th – Controversial Philly Hip-Hop pioneer Schoolly D releases his fourth album “Am I Black Enough For You?”, on Jive Records, on this day in 1989.

The album contained the singles “Gangster Boogie” and “Livin’ In The Jungle.”

“Am I Black Enough For You” also featured tracks with titles like “Black Education”, “Black Power” and “Education Of A Black Man.”

The title track was featured in the 1990 New Line Cinema film “King Of New York” starring Christopher Walken.

“Am I Black Enough For You?” was produced by Schoolly D and long-time collaborator DJ Code Money.
