May 19th – El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz (Minister Malcolm X) was born Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska, on this day in 1925.

Shabazz, considered by many as the most powerful and charismatic orator ever, was appointed The Nation Of Islam’s National Representative by The Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1963.

Shabazz was responsible for building most of movement’s temples during his tenure with the Nation from 1952 to 1964.

His colorful speeches and organizational skills influenced future N.O.I. ministers like Minister Louis Farrakhan and the late Dr. Khalid Muhammad, professional athletes like Muhammad Ali and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, musicians like Joe Tex, Funkadelic, Kool And The Gang as well as hip-hop artists like Public Enemy, KRS-One, Queen Latifah, De La Soul and Common.

Malcolm X was assassinated in The Audubon Ballroom in Harlem New York on February 21st 1965.

Malcolm X is considered one of the most dedicated and beloved freedom fighters in the plight of Black people ever.
